4 Myths About Staying At Bed and Breakfasts

Myths about Bed and Breakfasts… are they true?

Thinking about staying at a Bed and Breakfast, but have heard mixed reviews? You’re not alone! Bed and Breakfasts have been around for a while, so are all the myths about them true? Read below to find out how The Colonial Inn compares to the top 4 myths of B&B’s!

Top 4 Myths:

  1. “One shared outhouse”
One of the most frequent questions we get asked here is if the rooms have private bathrooms. Our answer? – Of course!! Each room has a private bathroom with either a standing shower/ tub combo, double soaking bubble tub, or steam/spa shower.
  2. “Little to no privacy”
Many people assume that bed and breakfast means being in constant company of other guests or an Innkeeper. At The Colonial Inn, once you are checked in, we show you to your room and the rest of the day is yours as you please. If you enjoy being in the company of other guests, the Cafe or outside deck is a great sitting area to meet other travelers! If privacy is your style, your room has sound proof walls and locked hallways. You can always stay in a Village Suite for extra privacy.
  3. “Expensive”
A common myth about choosing a bed and breakfast is that they’re all out of reasonable price range. To some people’s surprise, our prices at The Colonial Inn can go as low as $119/ night! Our weekend prices stay the same throughout the year, starting at $129-$220. Plus, a continental breakfast is included, snack time throughout the day, and a coupon sheet for the stores in the village.
  4. “Out of date/style”
If you’ve heard “Bed and Breakfast” and immediately pictured an old worn down room, you’re not alone. Fortunately this couldn’t be further from the truth! Our rooms are very up to date with amenities, spacious, and clean. Every room has a television and personal heat control, and most rooms have a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee machine. Choose from a queen or king size bed, with amenities like a steam shower, bubble tub, or lakeside view. These rooms have a taste of history but with modern twists!
